Q: What is ego?
A: Ego is a man-made concept. It is a label on a character that has no reality. It is a mere naming convention and a definition born from a sense of separation and identification with a body, mind, and the world. The self-image, which is a distorted idea as the ego, will be sensed until the individual dissolves, and so does its character. Ego keeps the “I” in the dark prison of duality. A seeker that is lost in the world of thoughts and formulations is being told to kill the ego in search of the “Truth”. How can the ego that is a false concept and a mere name be destroyed? How can a shadow that has no reality of its own be demolished? These notions blind the seer from seeing the “Reality,” and only the light of “Truth” is what melts away what is false and brings what is real to the forefront. This is another belief that is taking years for the seeker who is practicing spirituality to recognize. Rejecting what-is causes more chaos, more labeling and allows for the setting of more ambitious goals and, therefore, paths of spirituality to reach enlightenment. And at the end, with no ambition, with insight, it is realized that there is no individual whose ego needs to be destroyed in order to find enlightenment. If there is any practice, perhaps being sincere in the sensing of What-Is-Happening, which in its nature is made up of clarity, purity, and integrity. All of this is illuminating the path of “New-Ness” to the unity of “One-Ness.”
